Successful company succession: Daniel Classen and Florian Barth take over Schalk Steuerungstechnik GmbH

Westerheim, September 3, 2025 – Schalk Steuerungstechnik GmbH, a long-established provider of innovative control systems for industrial automation and building services, has new owners. Daniel Classen and Florian Barth have been leading the long-established company into the next generation since August 2025 as part of the company succession.

The second-generation family business based in Westerheim (Bavaria) will thus remain owner-managed and independent in the future. The previous shareholders Georg and Daniel Schalk are supporting the transition both strategically and operationally. With the successful company succession, the Westerheim location in Bavaria, Germany will be retained and further strengthened in the future.

“We are delighted to have earned the trust of the previous owners. It is truly important to us to continue the Schalk family's legacy and to steer the company toward a successful future together with the team,” says Daniel Classen.

Florian Barth adds: “Schalk stands for innovation, reliability, outstanding customer service, and in-depth electrical engineering expertise. We want to maintain these strengths while also providing new ideas – particularly in the areas of product development, digitalization, and internationalization.”

Tradition meets future

For more than 40 years, Schalk Steuerungstechnik GmbH has been synonymous with reliable and practical building control products that are valued and installed by electricians and industrial companies worldwide. Production takes place entirely in Germany. With the arrival of new managing directors Daniel Classen and Florian Barth, the company's success story continues. Based on their previous expertise, the entrepreneurs will focus on areas such as digitalization and internationalization. Investments are planned in the product range, sales, and the modernization of internal processes. The goal: to develop product solutions for new applications and achieve a strong presence in the national and international market. The company wants to remain close to the market and respond to input from installers, planners, wholesalers, and OEMs. “We want to develop the company step by step, but without forgetting where we came from. Schalk Steuerungstechnik has a solid foundation, which we want to build on with great care and reliability, continuing the work of the previous shareholders,” explains Florian Barth.

Future prospects for employees and applicants

Schalk's future orientation is designed to enable the company to achieve sustainable growth. As a result, new positions will be created in the areas of hardware and software development and manufacturing. Applicants who are enthusiastic about modern electrical engineering and control systems are cordially invited to join the team in Westerheim.

“Our aim is to combine modern technology with a pragmatic approach to development – entirely in the interests of our customers. Anyone who is interested in taking on responsibility in a medium-sized, growth-oriented environment is very welcome to join us,” says Daniel Classen.

Successful example of external company succession in the SME sector

At a time when many entrepreneurs are looking for a succession solution due to their age, this example shows that external succession can not only help to secure jobs and locations, but also provide new impetus for growth and innovation.

“It was important to us that the company remains successful in the long term and offers our employees sustainable prospects in Westerheim. We are very happy to have found a suitable solution and look forward to shaping the transition together with our successors,” say Georg and Daniel Schalk, who have managed the family business for the past 42 years.
